Ponderings on Worship

As I listened to worship driving 7 hours to Ocala FL today, I noticed something missing. The words were excellent, the voices pure and clear, and there was anointing on it. Yet, something was missing. In asking the Lord what it was, His answer gave me pause for meditation.
The music was thin. There were guitars, keyboards, and drums. We all know they can generate a lot of music. But what was missing was the multiple of instruments that were created to praise the Lord. There were no horns, no saxophones, no stringed instruments other than the guitars.
In our desire to be "modern" and reach the youth, we have forgotten the admonition of Psalm 150.
It is not that any of the instruments we use are wrong, far from it. It is that worship requires every instrument created to be used for His praise and glory.
At this time of year when many are singing the carols and there is more music released that praises Jesus than almost any other time of the year. Those of us who play, and those who are training the next generation, need to rededicate ourselves to training on all the instruments so that praise and worship has a fuller sound and every instrument is used to sing His praise.
